Fantastic food!!! My husband wouldn't eat here for a long time as he is a very picky eater. My daughter used to be home schooled and we would go every other week for lunch - Cultural Studies! After the hubby finally tried it, he thinks up reasons to celebrate by going to Shogun. I love the rice. It is awesome. Also fantastic are the teriakii chicken, steak, the veggies (especially the zucchini and add on broccoli), the salad, and don't forget the "YumYum" sauce! I'm getting hungry!

This place is funny and awesome!!! First off, I love the fact of having potatoes flung at me. That's so great!! The staff work in tandem so you never run out of your non-alcoholic drink, and the selections of food are great. It's an awesome cheap lunch for a business lunch out with the co-workers, or an awesome date night experience if you are double dating, or want to be bold and sit with random strangers!!! The chefs also make sure that if someone has a type of seafood allergy, that they cook their food separate from the rest of the party. I thought this personal touch was amazing!!!!! I really applaud the attention to detail the staff takes to each customer!!

Wow. Overpriced. WAAAY overpriced. That's the overriding thought as I'm figuring out what to order. I'm picky about sushi, and I am not a fan of the idea that your rolls should all be drenched with mayonnaise. If you like that kind of thing you might like this stuff, its not my thing. I thought the quality of the veggie roll I tried was okay. Its just not a good idea to tell your customer that you don't have the tamago because "our chefs are lazy and don't want to make their own." really? I hope they aren't too lazy to take all those raw fish precautions that will keep me from dying of food-bourne illness! Needless to say, I didn't order anything off the sushi list after that! That being said, the combo fried rice was OK and there was plenty to take for lunch tomorrow. They didn't skimp on the steak, chicken, or shrimp but considering that they charged $13, I'd have hit the roof if they had. All in all, $50 for a solid meh lunch. While we've paid more for worse, it doesn't leave me very happy when I do!

Been here many times, service this time has been amazing and prompt even after walking in behind a big party of people. Sushi is fresh and the nigri is tops.

Being that it was forth of July we hunted for a place to eat. I saw that this place was 4.5 stars on trip advisor. We, a party of 8, decided to give it a try. We was given the choice eating at the table or the grill. We picked the grill but should have picked plan B. Since we couldn't take the food with us we wanted to split some of the dishes. There was a unwritten $7 fee each for sharing! Absurd! The food is mediocre at best. Most things are overly sweetened and items off the grill tasted burnt. Sushi was not seasoned and over priced. Salmon was ok but over cooked with around 6 pencil sized asparagus. Also, served with mashed potatoes and a Greek salad?! The show was fun but nothing special. I don't know who is being paid off on trip advisor but this is the end of the show for Shogun.

I've been reluctant to write this review however, this needs to be documented here and on all social media sites. My cousin and I went to Shogun on Monday 9/21 for 1/2 price sushi. Our order was delivered to the party sitting next to us who after having a couple of bites claimed it wasn't their order. The bartender realized his mistake and placed the same plates in front of us. Appalling and off the chart of cleanliness we left the sushi and only had the soup we previously ordered. I return the next day to speak with a manager, never seeing one on Monday evening. Telling him the situation, he graciously apologized and refunded our dinner to a gift certificate. Afterwards, a small Asian guy wearing a pink shirt approaches me and angrily ask what I'm doing back in the restaurant. I ask, who are you and he says I threw you out yesterday afternoon and told you to never come back. Shocking as it may be I told him I had never been in this location until last night with my cousin. He refused to believe me and told me to get (with mother waiting in the car) or he would call the police. Though the Shogun on scottsville road was fantastic, this place is arrogant, understaffed and overpriced! Completely sucks! Will NEVER return!

The only reason you should eat here is if you want to watch a grill go up in flames & a man spin an egg on a spatula. The new location for Shogun is HUGE. It's a nice building with a ton of hibachi tables. The staff is very friendly. The food is somewhat overpriced, for hibachi chicken it is $15. The hibachi items come with vegetables, rice, noodles, salad, miso soup & the protein you order. The only reason to come to Shogun is for the show. Sitting at the hibachi grill has always been a pain for me, because I don't really care to see them cook the food, and it's hard to talk to the people you're with because you're sitting in a row. The hibachi chicken was just okay, when he threw the chicken on the grill I could see there was a lot of fat on it and I could taste the squishy fat when eating it. The vegetables were on the grill for about two minutes and did not have enough time to cook, they were very crisp and the potatoes tasted raw. I know that it's a gimmick at the hibachi grills for the chef to throw food and have people catch it in their mouth, but I feel like they almost guilt you into doing it. I don't want to catch the food. I know it's your job, but no means no. If you want to see a "show" & pay 15 bucks for fatty chicken & raw vegetables, this is the place for you!

Sake could stand to be a little bit hotter but other than that, I was happy with my dinner decision. I had a 6-piece sashimi plate complete with two pieces each of salmon, tuna and hamachi, coupled with a spicy tuna roll. I haven't had a spicy tuna roll like this in a long time. I can tell I will be frequenting shogun bistro during my stay in bowling green, Kentucky.

This place is so great! I almost missed it because the hours listed on this page were wrong! The restaurant is open during dinner time and the food is amazing. They included potatoes in the grilled veggies and topped it off with lo mein noodles. You will not leave hungry.

Great place to eat no matter the occasion. If you need a fancy sit down restaurant they got you covered or if you want a cheap lunch you can eat in the bistro. This place is great for dates, business lunch or a quick meal

The chefs are mildly talented but kind. The food is super cheap and very salty. And it's way overpriced. Would not go back. Go to Thai Thai. Not the same "kind" of food. But a much better experience and price while still eating Asian cuisines.

I tried to eat here, but the manager was so rude that I left before doing so. I asked him for their wifi password, but when informed that it didn't work, he said that "you must not know how to log-on". Evidently, from what I've read of the other reviews, I'm fortunate for leaving beforehand.

I had 3 types of sushi. The spicy tuna roll was great. The other 2 being the Philly roll and the California roll wasn't as good as I've had at other places. Service was good and prompt. Might try it again in the future.

Friends, this is one fine Japanese steakhouse and has nearly everything to settle even the most discerning appetite. They have a sushi bar that is nearly as long as the restaurant itself. When there, we ate at the hibachi grill and were served one of the finest meals around (steak and scallops). I didn't think that the food would ever end. The chef was very professional and straight to the point (there were NO young ones at our table and I appreciated his attitude). I had a couple of rolls from the bar (Dr. Friend and another that I can't remember sadly) and they were both excellent. The decor was superb, our wait was long, but not unusually so (I think that the entire populace of Bowling Green was there that night). I left paying $40+ for just myself, but this was after 2 exotic rolls and the full hibachi experience and soft drinks. When in Bowling Green KY, this is a great place to be!

Such a mistake!!! It looks so clean and new but the food is just terrible. I don't even know where to start..... We had to ask three times to get chopsticks. First red flag. It should be the opposite... they should punish you for needing a fork. We watched the chef at the next table being a dick to some kid... the kid was being a brat, but you can usually tell a the low-end hibachi restaurant when the chefs are extremely rude to the guests. Our chef comes out, grabs an egg. Drops it on the table. Oops. Grabs another egg, tries to catch it in his hat. Throws it on the ground instead. Grabs an egg from another chef's cart, cracks it directly on the grill (getting shell everywhere), and tries to toss the yolk in the air. Obviously, the yolk breaks everywhere. Abort! Abort! At a table of four, he probably used six sticks of butter. So much rice, with no veggies or anything in it... just rice. And butter. He takes out the veggies: zucchini, onion, carrot, and potato. Yes, potato. Grilled and soaked in soy sauce. Why??? My shrimp were amazingly undercooked and flavorless. And now that I have all this food on my plate, I still don't have dipping sauces. M caught his attention and alerted him, and he poured one for us to share. M asked for his own and the chef ignored him. At this point, I'm done. I just want to eat and leave. He starts grilling noodles. Why? My entire plate is already covered in three inches of rice, grilled potato, and now you want to give me teriyaki-drenched noodles? They were practically candy. I had to push them off my plate and even then the teriyaki sauce had made everything else on my plate taste like a candy store. Then the shrimp toss. This is the point where I just want everyone to leave me alone so I can eat things covered in soy sauce and butter. And they want to throw food at me. Chef starts with the guys at the other end of the table. One giant piece lands in the guy's mouth, launches back out on to the grill. Chef picks it right up with the spatula and throws it back. That was just on the *inside* of someone's mouth! Chef continues to use the same spatula and tries to throw food at us. Are you kidding? Disgusting. If Bowling Green has a health department, they should get their tails down here.

Over-priced sushi. The service can be really slow, especially at lunch. I ordered Miso soup with my sushi and never received it. Server didn't care to come check on us for me to even mention it. There are other sushi places that are much better and I will stick to them.

The restaurant was a little confusing. There were three separate areas - the hibachi which turned out to be a grill top, the half price sushi bar and the restaurant/bar that had Japanese and American food. We ate in the restaurant. The food was pretty good if unexciting. My husband had a bento box with salmon and veggie tempura. He said it was good, freshly made and hot. I had potstickers and veggie sushi. The veggie sushi was a combination of avocado, pickle and tempura sweet potato. Never had that combination before but it was good. The service was cheerful and helpful but wasn't very knowledgeable.

Crazy bartender threatened to "call the cops" on us because they took forever to deliver our food....SERIOUSLY...read on. Went for quick sushi lunch today with my husband in between classes. Usually timing here is not a problem, but today they took more than half an hour to bring out 4 basic sushi rolls. Bartender waiting on us even apologized at one point because it was taking so long, but when the food finally came out 10 minutes after his apology, we asked them to box it up for us because we had to get back to campus for our classes. The bartender then said they would then charge us full price for the sushi (it's 1/2 price in the bar for lunch) and we were surprised they would charge us full price because it was their fault we had to take it to go. Then the bartender got really visibly angry so we said, fine, forget the order, we'll just leave. We got up to leave and he got up in my husband's face blocking his way out and said, "I'll call the cops!!!" and we both said "WHAT?!" We were absolutely shocked. The overly aggressive bartender guy then makes this big, loud scene in the bar in front of everyone threatening my husband, who demanded to speak to the manager. The clearly inexperienced manager was little help. No apology for the delay in the food order and no offer to comp the meal because his bartender got so outrageously out of control. My husband ended up taking the conversation with the manager back to the food prep area where the manager agreed to box up our food for us and allow us to pay 1/2 price for the sushi. Forget that. No one deserves to be treated that way ever. As I sat up front waiting for my husband, the bartender was talking smack about my husband to other customers at the bar. Unprofessional, OUTRAGEOUS non-"service" to be THREATENED by a bartender who is trying to physically intimidate you when you just wanted to eat your lunch in peace?! We will never go back EVER.

We ate of the menu in the bar area. Overall- the atmosphere and food were worth the visit.

Felt a little let down. Walked in and it was dead and it took way longer than it should have to just get seated. The tables in the bistro area were filthy with stuff stuck all over the tops of them. We waited 5 minutes without even being asked what we wanted to drink. Then realized the sushi prices had been raised so they were about double what other places in town currently charge so we just left.

Have eaten in there old place as well as the new place. I have never gotten a bad meal at the shogun. I love the new place it light , airy and clean (something the old place could not boast of). Always a good meal and more than enough to eat. Always have a doggie bag.
